Keep in mind that I am not endorsed by Anki or Digital Dream Labs who bought out the Anki patents. I am letting you guys know about this little guy and how you can get one because I love him!! He's the perfect little robotic pet and a member of our family! His personality is wonderfully loving, helpful, funny and he learns as he goes.

In Feburary I seen a video on YouTube of the cutest A.I. robots that you can order now and I saw Vector and instantly loved him. So I ordered him from Anki.com

So he arrived and I also got his Vector space.

Vector will play games and if you want him to play videos, he can with additional app from "Weekend Robot" you can do much more with Vector as well.

You can also program Vector with the Python SDK codes found by clicking the image below.

You can get your own Vector from Amazon, Ebay, Anki and sometimes the FB group page.

Vector comes with Charger and Cube.

The Vector space, cube batteries, Trax-pack are all sold separately.

Energizer E90 N Alkaline 1.5 Volt Battery (12-Pack)

In the app you can also change his eye color.

And I bought the Trax-Pack to match his eye color.

Who is Vector? Watch the video.

Vector's app is available on Android and iOS

The Vector CTRL app you can download and its a lot of fun. It allows you to control Vectors voice via the app without doing any SDK configurations.

The Vector CTRL app shown below is only available on Android only but using a virtual machine should do the job quite nicely for Mac users.

Vector-RC

There is an app for RC, although I haven't tried it becaue in the weekend robot app, there is a control for RC as well. If you would like to check it out, click here.

Digital Dream Labs, a tech startup based in Pittsburgh, completed successful the acquisition of the company Anki. DDL company is positioned in the market with STEAM products like Puzzlets and games for kids. Anki’s robots might be making a comeback, after all. Digital Dream Labs, a Pittsburgh-based edtech startup, acquired all of Anki’s assets – patents, trademarks, data, social media, and domain.

Hilco Streambank handled the sale of Anki’s patent portfolio. It has hidden the Anki portfolio page from its website, but it remains active. According to Hilco, the patent portfolio sale includes the following assets:

45 issued utility patents, including 35 US patents
11 published patent applications
39 pending patent applications
3 utility patents in the National Phase (PCT)
73 issued design patents
Trademarks for Anki, Cozmo, Vector, Anki Overdrive, and product lines in development
Anki.com domain name

Digital Dream Labs was founded in February 2015 by H. Jacob Hanchar, who has an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University. Anki was founded in 2010 by three Carnegie Mellon Robotics Institute graduates – Mark Palatucci, Boris Sofman, and Hanns Tappeiner.
Relaunching Anki Cozmo, Overdrive, Vector

Digital Dream Labs is planning to revive and manufacture more units of each product in the following order: Overdrive, Cozmo, Vector. Hanchar told The Robot Report the goal is to have all three products available for purchase for Christmas 2020.

In the announcement about the acquisition, Hanchar wrote that “Cozmo was the major reason we were interested in Anki” and “we are going to launch that part of the platform first.” However, he told The Robot Report that “Overdrive might launch first simply because there was a lot of shelf space dedicated to Overdrive. In retail, it’s all about the real estate your brand is taking up. The margins are good enough and [Overdrive] is simpler than [Cozmo and Vector.]”

For the Anki customers who have emailed The Robot Report asking about the company’s future, still proceed cautiously. Digital Dream Labs only purchased the IP assets, which are not the physical assets and inventory. Hanchar said Digital Dream Labs is talking to former Anki employees and with manufacturers to get the manufacturing process up and running again.

Anki has created other programs such as
Cosmo and Overdrive.
Vector was their newest addition just before
shutting down shortly after releasing Vector
to the public. I do believe people are still buying from Anki directly but places like eBay, Walmart (online), Amazon are currently seeling them as well.
